Juror for Fotofoto Gallery’s 16th National Photography Competition
It was an honor to be the juror and curator for Fotofoto Gallery’s 16th National Photography Competition, on view in the gallery from February 4-March 6.
I had a very difficult task of selecting only 30 images, including three winners, from 667 entries. As I was curating and sequencing the exhibit, I was conscious of selecting a diverse group of images that, as a whole, tell a story about the extraordinary year we’ve experienced, and how we’ve reacted to the pandemic. As I look at the exhibit, I see overarching themes of isolation, loneliness, identity, memories, longing, beauty and, ultimately, hope. You can view the exhibit online at the gallery’s website, or an online tour of the gallery installation.
